It is the 6th and final week, which makes today reveal day!!!!! I am really excited to share my new and improved Glamily Room. When I started this adventure I said that if I had painted walls and white curtains I would be happy. Well I accomplished a lot more than that.
I have rambled about my to do list and choices for weeks now. Follow these links to see what I’m talking about.
Week 1 | Week 2 | Week 3 | Week 4 | Week 5
It has been a learning experience. I never knew how fast 6 weeks could go until now. They are right when they called this a challenge. It was hard but really good for me at the same time. I have a hard time making decisions and this was just the shove I needed.
A huge thank you to Calling It Home for hosting this event and inviting Guest Participants like myself. To see the 200+ room transformations follow this link……..
Calling It Home
Another shout of gratitude to Lamps Plus for making my chandelier dreams come true.
Now let’s get to the good stuff…Pictures!!

We are enjoying this room so much. It is beautiful and really practical. The sectional is so nice to lounge on. It really made this room a spot in our house that we like to be.
As you can see many pieces stayed like the piano, the chair, the lamps, etc. They just look so much better!!! I already had all the mirrors. I also used the same curtain rods and added a little more gold to the finials. See the source list at the end.
I am in love with this drum shade that I hung from a rope swag kit. I had the idea to wrap a cord in rope and was thrilled to find that it already existed at World Market. The first one that I got didn’t turn on, but I switched it out for a new one. I was so glad that it was in stock. It felt like we had to do things twice. First the paint was weird so we had to repaint it, then I had to hang this light twice. But these things always happen!! It’s part of the journey.
I am also thrilled with how the color makes this room dark and moody but since it is open to the rest of the house, which will eventually be all white, it is still light and bright. It’s the best of both worlds.
I wanted worn camel leather in this room so badly. I found this ottoman on craigslist and it’s perfect. Perfect size, perfect price ($75)!! It is just enough leather to capture the feel I wanted. You can read about it in week 5.
I can’t say enough about these IKEA curtains. They are inexpensive and really good quality. A sweet friend helped me hem them with a 1 inch break, which makes them nice and full at the floor.
I also embellished some inexpensive pillow covers with trim.
This wood beaded jute trim on a linen pillow brought in the warm tones of the leather.
Adding this black pom pom trim to this $4 IKEA lumbar pillow made it fun!!!!
These blush pink Greek Key pillows are so soft and pretty but still sophisticated. They are just the right amount of color.
I think that it is the details that really bring a space together.
This chandelier is even better than I thought that it would be. I initially picked it out as an affordable version of a Restoration Hardware one in Week 4 I was nervous about the light being too glaring, but it isn’t at all. I used frosted bulbs and it is such a pleasant light. There are no weird shadows and we hung it high so that it doesn’t shine in my husbands eyes, which he was very concerned about, but he was good and let me get the one I wanted. I am very happy with it.
One of the things that I was trying to make less awkward about this room is the lack of an entry way and how I have the TV on the same wall. I added a coat rack and I have plans to do a gallery wall which will just distract from it a little more.
Even though I didn’t finish everything I have the bones in place and the rest will come in time. Of course there were hiccups along the way. But that is to be expected. All in all we came pretty close…..
My To Do List:
-
sectional, rug,and ottoman Sell existing furniturePaintInstall new shades and curtainsHem curtains and rehangChoose new lighting (I have a few in mind from Lamps Plus)Hang chandelierHang drum shade in corner- Hang gallery wall around TV
Hang mirrors above sofa-
Art above piano…possibly a DIY(I will just be using a mirror that I already had) - Paint coat rack
Brighten up curtain rods with gold rub and buff- Possibly paint the green cushions on the black chair
Finalize pillow choices
So there it is….my Glamily Room!!!!!
