What makes for a great brunch? A great mimosa of course. But how can you take the ordinary out of your brunch?
WITH A MIMOSA FLIGHT!!!!
It takes the BLAH right out of an ordinary brunch. If you missed part 1 of my Summer Brunch Series you can catch up HERE and see my dining room all set up for a family friendly brunch–ahem the boys had fresh squeezed juice and pink lemonade.
Let’s get started with Part 2—The Perfect Mimosa Flight
My husband and I took a little trip to sunny Palm Springs, CA a few months back and we took in a brunch while we were there. I already knew that I loved mimosas, but I soon realized that I love mimosa flights even more. Duh!
There are endless combinations that could be made. Here I chose 3 citrus juices that are easy to find and are therefore cost effective for a party.
Pink lemonade, orange juice, and Ruby red grapefruit juice.
Tips For The Perfect Mimosa Flight:
TIP 1} Don’t buy the cheapest champagne, go for the next step up.You can find a decent one on sale that won’t break the bank. You can also choose any sparkling wine for that matter.
TIP 2} Freshly squeezed juice is the best. I juiced the grapefruit and orange juices myself and purchased the lemonade.
TIP 3} The ratio: I prefer 2 parts champagne to 1 part juice.
The suggested ratio is 3 to 1, so it really is just a matter of preference.
TIP 4} You could also just take the guess work out of it and set up a mimosa bar to let your guests make their own flights.
TIP 5} Don’t forget to have your champagne and juices well chilled and on ice if possible.
