3 ways to use tropical statement leaves like monstera and palm fronds

Have you ever used tropical statement leaves? They make adding drama easy breezy. Speaking of breezy, I could use some of that right now because it’s in the triple digits. Happy first day of summer!! I have 3 easy ways to use tropical statement leaves for you today, but first welcome to the Summer Home Love tour. I joined some talented ladies to share summer decor and entertaining ideas. Follow the links at the end for lots of summer inspiration.

Once again I am bringing the outside in. When I think of seasonal decor it always comes back to nature. A few months back I was helping a friend with a luau party and I clipped palm fronds. I brought them in to clean them and was surprised how good they looked in a vase. So that was my inspiration this summer.

I happen to live 30 mins outside of Palm Springs, CA so as you can imagine palm trees grow like weeds here. Literally. If they are not available where you live there are some good faux ones available.

2} Grow tropical houseplants with striking foliage

I added a giant bird of paradise. This giant is still small but it has already sprouted a new leaf which is impressive to see.

I also found a “New monstera” at Lowe’s. I love to buy my plants at Lowe’s or Home Depot because they offer full refunds for plant killers. They get me.

Can we just pause for a minute and talk about this throw? Hello fringe!!! It is from Go My Monday I love that it is round because it is unique and it drapes so well over a chair. It is made from Turkish cotton and the perfect weight for summer.

Not sure that I will leave them there but I’m enjoying it like this for awhile.

It’s a work in progress (always) but it feels a lot like summer around here. We have been enjoying the break from the school schedule. I also love the long evenings when it cools down plus my hydrangeas are blooming. So many good things!!!

  1. I love tropical foliage. These were great tips to share with everyone! Oh, and if you happen to be missing some of those vintage paintings..don’t look in my house or anything. LOL! I seriously LOVE them! Thanks for sharing this with us at The Creative Circle Link Party!

  2. I think if I were in your kitchen, I could stare at that little vintage seascape against those vases and get lost for awhile!! Just another one of the many points of interest in your house, Jessica, and it’s the way you put them all together that makes everything so beautiful!!

  3. Beautiful job well done Jessica!!! The palms are a summer beauty! This decor is all over Pottery Barn right now but I love your living palms much better!!

  4. I love these tips – and yes I remember well the palm frond ‘weeds’ from when we lived in L.A. I didn’t know you painted landscapes – they are gorgeous! Does your talent ever end? Loads of inspiration here, friend, and I just love your beautiful home!

  5. Loved how you styled the tropical greenery! and I am loving that black pendant light in your kitchen!! So cute!

  6. Jessica those vintage landscapes are literally amazing! I love how you displayed them! I also love all the greenery, the palm leaves are sooo pretty!

  7. love how you use all the palms! I also am a huge fan of the art above your kitchen cabinets! great job!!!

  8. I really love your ideas. Beautiful vintage paintings, too! I kinda like that little light. In my kitchen, I’d prob paint it copper. But the black looks cool with the tones in your paintings.
