My family and I took a trip to New York from California at just the perfect time of year, late October. We had beautiful weather and stunning fall color!! I soon realized that all the attractions are very expensive, especially when you need 4 admissions. We needed to save somewhere!! I have compiled a list of the best free family friendly things that we enjoyed. I came about this by trial and error and some unnecessary steps…our poor feet! Over the summer we decided to put our tax return towards a 10 yr dream…new kitchen countertops!!!! We wanted to cut down a stepped up bar top, that was absolutely useless, and make it a counter height peninsula. Much work went into that process but that is a story for another day. There is still much to be done like the subway tile back splash as you can see in the following pics. When I was making my decision I couldn’t find any information on these counters. I love to read reviews, I won’t buy something if I can’t read a review and yet I never write them. I am changing that with this post. I hope that it helps someone making this same decision.

Can you believe that I had never took advantage of the fact that the beautiful J.Paul Getty Museum in L.A., CA and the Getty Villa in Malibu, CA are such a short drive from home? So I decided to get my act together and I told my husband that I wanted to go for our anniversary. We went in February and the weather was just as perfect as you see! One of the perks of Southern California living. This view is of the Getty museum in L.A. It not only has fabulous art and curiosities but breathtaking gardens and admission is free (besides parking). As soon as you park at the bottom of the hill you take a tram to the top. I was already loving it, so I don’t get out much!! One of my biggest questions was whether you could pack a picnic…
